Can anyone explain, in an age of austerity, why we are subsidizing the abortionists at Planned Parenthood?

Its annual report indicates that Planned Parenthood had assets of over $1 billion in 2009 and 2010, and generated a profit of more than $18 million. At the same time, significantly fewer women received adoption referrals or prenatal care -- the "services" for which Planned Parenthood justifies receiving taxpayer handouts -- than before.

Here are the numbers: Planned Parenthood performed 329,445 abortions in 2010, but referred only 841 women to adoption agencies and provided prenatal care to only 31,098.

Planned Parenthood is nothing more than a publicly-subsidized abortion provider that makes a token effort at providing other services so as to justify supping at the government trough.

My wish for 2012? The defunding of Planned Parenthood.
