The Only Reason to Keep Pushing ObamaCare

The Atlantic's Megan McArdle can't understand why Democrats would continue to consider passing a health care bill that their employers -- the American public -- hate with a passion

.

As I've written before, here's why.  For a good chunk of the Democrat leadership, it's not about health care, it's about politics and the willingness to take a temporary hit in exchange for what they perceive to be a long-term, systemic advantage.

As McArdle's piece reflects, it otherwise makes no sense whatsoever for the Democrats to follow this stinker over the cliff -- especially when the history of Hillarycare in 1994 makes it clear that voters weren't punishing Democrats for not passing a bill; they were angry that the politicians tried to pass a bill they didn't like.
