Hubris?

I just wrapped up a segment on Fox and Friends this morning to talk about the Palin interview (and am currently sitting on the floor in DC's Union Station waiting a train for NYC for a CNN hit) and was very glad we got to talk about Charlie Gibson's "hubris" question.

Did you all catch that in the interview last night?

Gibson asked Palin if she could "look the country in the eye and say 'I have the experience and I have the ability to be not just Vice President, but perhaps President of the United States of America?'”

When she said yes, he followed up “Doesn't that take some hubris?”

By asking that kind of follow up Gibson is essentially saying "You're not prepared, you'd have to be really arrogant to think you could do this job."

I recall Barack Obama called this kind of attitude "audacious" and made it the slogan of his life story.  I'd say that took a little "hubris," too.
