Obama Fails on Georgia, His Own Convention
Barack Obama can't stand up to Hillary Clinton, let alone Russia.

Take a look at just a few of the events which have transpired in the past few days. Russia invades Georgia. Hillary invades Obama's convention. Obama does nothing constructive on either count. He's on vacation in Hawaii.

Meanwhile, on the Russia front,  McCain engages. He goes on offensive holding pressers and even pressures President Bush to make a statement. Where's Obama? Just read the New York Times story "McCain Displays Credentials as Obama Relaxes."

When Obama did make a statement he called for UN resolution. That's the same UN that can't stop the genocide in Darfur. The New York post noticed.  "The phone may not have rung at 3 a.m., but when word came of Russia's brutal invasion of neighboring Georgia, one of the two presidential candidates instinctively understood the adventure's long-range implications. And one did not" their editorial said.

While Obama slipped away to Hawaii, Hillary Clinton finagled herself a roll call vote at the Democratic convention and her husband a prime time speaking slot.

In other words, Obama got rolled by Hillary for his own convention. That should tell you something about his ability to stand up to hardknuckled political leaders.

Michael Goodwin hit the nail on the head when he wrote, "It reminds me of a Cold War joke about how the Russians view a compromise. They come to the table and announce the rules: What's mine is mine, what's yours is negotiable. How would President Obama respond? I think we just found out."
