UPDATE: At Least 8 Dead, 3 Police Officers Shot in Pittsburgh Synagogue Active Shooting

UPDATE:

CBS now reports that at least eight have been shot after a gunman walked into The Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA and yelled "All Jews must die!" before opening fire.

Authorities say that a suspect, a white male in his 40s has been arrested but no further details have been released. When police arrived on the scene, the suspect then opened fire on the responders and shot at least three. 

"Police have requested that residents stay inside their home as they exchanged gun fire with a suspected gunman," according to CBS. The shooting took place during weekly Shabbat services at the conservative Jewish Synagogue. 

President Donald J. Trump tweeted that he is "watching the events unfolding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania." and that those in the are should remain sheltered.

CBS reports that "at least four people have been confirmed dead, possibly as many as 7 to 8 could be dead" after a shooter opened fire at The Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hil in Pittsburgh, PA.

According to local media, "Police have requested that residents stay inside their home as they have exchanged gun fire with a suspected gunman." 

Among those shot are least two police officers, but it is unclear whether not they are among the deceased. 

Based on initial reports, it appears the gunman barricaded those inside the Synagogue before ambushing police as they arrived on scene. It is unclear who the shooter is or what possible motives he or she may have had.
