Mark Meadows: Time to Audit Mueller Investigation

The Washington Examiner reports that North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows will request a financial audit of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into whether or not Russian interference and collusion with Trump officials occurred during the 2016 presidential election.

Rep. Meadows, a Republican, apparently sat down with CSPAN for an interview set to air Sunday. He told his interviewer that he will ask the Government Accountability Office next week to audit Mueller and his team of investigators to ensure tax dollars are being properly spent

"There will be a request from us to audit the financial resources of this investigation," Meadows said. "It is certainly within the parameters. It is appropriated funding from Congress."

Meadows added in a tweet, “This investigation has gone on for nearly a year with no evidence of any collusion. Americans deserve to know how and where the Mueller team is using their tax dollars--and how much of the investigation is truly about "collusion" vs. political targeting.

The North Carolinian currently serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform committee. As noted by the Examiner, the Justice Department has noted that the Russian investigation has already cost taxpayers $7 million dollars. The audit will also help provide details into the scope of Mueller’s investigation as well.
