After months of being on the defensive concerning Russian collusion, Special Counsel Robert Mueller submitted his report over the weekend. To the Left’s horror, no new indictments were recommended. There was no Trump-Russia collusion. It was a myth. It’s always been a myth; half the country knew that. There was also not enough to pursue further legal action concerning obstruction of justice. The liberal media meltdown was some of the finest since the 2016 election. For two years, these clowns said collusion was coming and then they got punched in the mouth. And now, the Department of Justice said they’re siding with a court ruling from last December that struck down Obamacare as unconstitutional (via The Hill):
The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday announced that it is siding with a district court ruling that found the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional.
The move is an escalation of the Trump administration's legal battle against the health care law.
The DOJ previously argued in court that the law's pre-existing condition protections should be struck down. Now, the administration argues the entire law should be invalidated.
U.S. District Court Judge Reed O'Connor ruled in December that the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate is unconstitutional and that the rest of law is therefore invalid.
The DOJ said Monday that it agrees the decision should stand as the case works its way through the appeals process in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
On top of this, Michael Avenatti, an anti-Trump lawyer, was pinched on federal wire and bank fraud charges. He allegedly tried to extort some $20 million from Nike. Over at the Pentagon, they’re shifting $1 billion for 57 miles of border fencing (via Reuters):
The U.S. Department of Defense shifted $1 billion to plan and build a 57-mile section of “pedestrian fencing”, roads and lighting along the border between the United States and Mexico, the Pentagon chief said on Monday.
Last week, the Pentagon gave Congress a list that included $12.8 billion of construction projects for which it said funds could be redirected for construction along the U.S.-Mexico border.
U.S. President Donald Trump declared a national emergency last month in a bid to fund his promised border wall without congressional approval.
Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan said in a memo to Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen that the Department of Defense had the authority to support counter-narcotics activities near international boundaries.
