Democratic Senator: Hillary Is Hurting, Having A Tough Time Dealing With Loss To Donald Trump

Two-time presidential loser Hillary Clinton returned to Capitol Hill last week for the portrait unveiling ceremony for outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), where she delivered some remarks, which included a call to arms to be on the alert for so-called fake news. The former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic nominee called fake news a threat that must be addressed. It may be annoying, but it’s hardly an existential threat and it also didn’t cost Hillary Clinton the election. Moreover, just by reading the URLs, one could probably deduce which site is peddling nonsense.

Yet today, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) how Clinton is doing after getting trumped at the polls. Feinstein, who had dinner with Clinton when she visited, said that she’s hurting after her loss to President-elect Donald J. Trump. She also peppered in how she admires Hillary Clinton, as most Democrats who weren’t born after 1980 are when it comes to this lady. The Washington Free Beacon clipped the exchange:

I think it is fair to say that she’s hurting,” Feinstein said, “I think all of us know who watch that campaign, it was a very hard campaign for her. The name-calling, the email intrusion, the misinterpretation of what she had done with the e-mails. Eleven hours in front of a committee while she was a candidate.”

People were saying that she would win. It was going to be a landslide, with the Latino vote surging for Democrats come Election Day. Neither happened. It was one of the biggest upsets since Truman beat Dewey in 1948. Clinton lost one of the most winnable elections in recent memory—and it’s all her fault.

Feinstein added that she feels Clinton is going to be fine—and that she has “a spine of steel.”

“I think this is really a tough time for a wonderful human being,” she added.

Hillary Clinton is never going to be president; Thank god. But she will probably return to private life, arising from the bunker to speak at high-profile events and run her nonprofit, but she’s got her millions of dollars to enjoy, along with her grandkids. At the same time, the House Republicans aren’t done with her yet.
