Hostage Incident In Baltimore Ends With No Fatalities

A rather scary hostage situation unfolded today in Baltimore, where a rape suspect barricaded himself in a local Burger King and took four people hostage, one was as young as 7-years-old. The whole incident began around 11 a.m. this morning, according to CBS Baltimore. The situation was resolved, with the suspect being apprehended by police a little after 5 p.m. this afternoon:

Four people, including a 7-year-old were held hostage inside a Baltimore Burger King after a rape suspect flees police on Sunday afternoon. Police Tweeted that the suspect was in custody shortly before 5 p.m. The hostages are all unharmed.

Howard County and Anne Arundel County sent tactical units and armored vehicles. Smith says part of the reason for that is because the heat requires SWAT teams to rotate in and out.

Police say the gunman took four hostages, including a 7-year-old girl. They say that girl is the daughter of a Burger King employee. The other hostages are 17, 25 and 67.

It’s just another incident that highlights the dangers of law enforcement. Further south, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a gunman decided to open fire on police, killing three and wounding four. The shooter has been identified as 29-year-old Gavin Long.
