Trump Slams Mueller, Says Probe Has Cost Tens of Millions to Find No Collusion

President Trump continued with his attacks on special counsel Robert Mueller Thursday, criticizing it as a massive “investigation in search of a crime.”

“Did you ever see an investigation more in search of a crime? At the same time Mueller and the Angry Democrats aren’t even looking at the atrocious, and perhaps subversive, crimes that were committed by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats,” he said. “A total disgrace!”

Shortly after, he called the investigation a “Joseph McCarthy style Witch Hunt.”

“When will this illegal Joseph McCarthy style Witch Hunt, one that has shattered so many innocent lives, ever end-or will it just go on forever? After wasting more than $40,000,000 (is that possible?), it has proven only one thing-there was NO Collusion with Russia,” he wrote. “So Ridiculous!”

As The Washington Examiner noted, there is no specific data about the total costs of the investigation to date, "but, according to Politifact, the office of the special counsel was officially budgeted $10.4 million in direct costs for fiscal year 2018, which ran from Oct. 1, 2017 to Sept. 30, 2018."

On Wednesday, Trump said the probe, which he called a “total Hoax,” will be examined for years to come.
