Trump's Friday Morning Tweets: The Filibuster, John Kelly, Bob Corker, His Administration's Successes

President Trump took to Twitter early Friday morning to double down on his calls to nix the filibuster and comment on his chief of staff’s job performance as well as his administration’s successes.

"If Senate Republicans don't get rid of the Filibuster Rule and go to a 51% majority, few bills will be passed. 8 Dems control the Senate!" Trump tweeted Friday morning.

Frustrated with Democratic obstruction of his agenda, President Trump has regularly called on Republicans to get rid of the filibuster and allow bills to pass with a simple majority.  But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has refused to end the legislative filibuster.

“There's not a single senator in the majority who thinks we ought to change the legislative filibuster. Not one,” McConnell said last April.

Trump then turned his attention to his chief of staff John Kelly’s job performance.

“General John Kelly is doing a fantastic job as Chief of Staff. There is tremendous spirit and talent in the W.H. Don't believe the Fake News,” he said.

According to reports this week, Kelly is controlling the information flow to the president, vetting everything that comes across his desk and limiting who has access to the Oval Office.

He also tweeted about his administration’s successes.

“Few, if any, Administrations have done more in just 7 months than the Trump A. Bills passed, regulations killed, border, military, ISIS, SC!” he said, following up with a quote from Australian conservative author Nick Adams.

“Nick Adams, "Retaking America" "Best things of this presidency aren't reported about. Convinced this will be perhaps best presidency ever,” he wrote.

Update: The president noted that Sen. Bob Corker's comments that he has failed to demonstrate the "stability" or "competence" needed as president are "strange."

"Strange statement by Bob Corker considering that he is constantly asking me whether or not he should run again in '18. Tennessee not happy!" he wrote.
