Pelosi Pushes Back: 'I'm Worth the Trouble'

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi doesn’t seem fazed by growing frustration with her among many Democrats after losing both special elections Tuesday.

In fact, she said she’s “worth the trouble.”

“I feel very confident about the support that I have in my caucus,” Pelosi said at a press conference in the Capitol.

“I think I’m worth the trouble, quite frankly,” she added. “I love the fray.

A group of House Democrats, including Rep. Tim Ryan who attempted to oust Pelosi after the last election, is calling for her to step aside, believing that her leadership is an “impediment” to taking back the majority.

Unsurprisingly, Pelosi rejected their calls.

"We're paving a way for a new generation of leadership, and I respect any opinion that my members have,” she said. “But my decision about how long I stay is not up to them.”

She also said Democrats’ losing streak, from the 2016 presidential election to all of the special elections held this year, would soon come to an end.

“History is on our side,” she said, explaining it’s normal for presidents to lose House seats in their first midterm election.

“You want me to sing my praises?” she asked. "Well, I'm a master legislator. I am a strategic, politically astute leader. My leadership is recognized by many around the country, and that is why I'm able to attract the support that I do."

President Trump also weighed in, hoping Democrats keep Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in their leadership positions.

“I certainly hope the Democrats do not force Nancy P out. That would be very bad for the Republican Party - and please let Cryin' Chuck stay!” he tweeted.
