Indiana Gov. Mike Pence went after Sen. Tim Kaine and Hillary Clinton Tuesday during the vice presidential debate for making accusations against law enforcement of implicit bias.
Clinton said during the first debate that “implicit bias is a problem for everyone, not just police.” Her remarks came after two police involved shootings of African American men, which Pence said Team Clinton is using to “demean” police officers.
“We ought to stop seizing on these moments of tragedy,” Pence said, noting that complete and transparent investigations of the shootings will still occur.
“But Senator, please -- enough of this seeking every opportunity to demean law enforcement broadly by making accusation of implicit bias every time tragedy occurs.”
He went on to discuss Donald Trump’s support of law enforcement and the fact that the Republican ticket was endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police.
