Michelle Wolf Defends Samantha Bee: Ivanka Is 'Useless' and 'Fair Game'

Michelle Wolf, the host of a new Netflix series who was criticized by some for her White House Correspondents’ Dinner jokes, defended her fellow comedian Samantha Bee in an interview with The Daily Beast Monday. Bee apologized last week after calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c***” on her show “Full Frontal,” but Wolf complained that people needed to know the context of the joke, adding that Ivanka is “useless.”

Wolf said most people probably saw the explicit remark out of context.

“They don’t know it was a bit about ICE, and they may not even know that Ivanka posted that picture or really so much about that,” she said. “I mean, Ivanka is part of the Trump administration. She’s fair game. And she is useless. So I think it’s very fair to point out that she’s doing a terrible job.”

The picture Wolf is referring to is one Ivanka posted of herself with her young son with no political commentary. However, Bee believed the picture to be ill-timed given stories in the news about the Trump administration separating families crossing the border illegally.

Wolf concluded that Ivanka is “one of those worst kind of girls.”

“We’re all fooled by her because Eric and Don Jr. aren’t attractive, and then we pull that, Well, she’s just a little girl! She’s just a pretty little girl,” she said. “And that’s why you shouldn’t underestimate women: they’ll look like a pretty little girl and they’ll steal the children right out from under you.”

Bee apologized on her show for the remarks last week saying,"It is a word I have used on the show many times, hoping to reclaim it. This time, I used it as an insult. I crossed a line," she said. "I regret it and I do apologize."

Wolf herself is no stranger to controversy. Many perceived her jokes at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as targeting the appearance of White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The White House Correspondents’ Association distanced itself from her remarks.
