House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dodged questioning Thursday about Rep. Ruben Kihuen (D-NV) who is reportedly reconsidering his decision to resign following sexual harassment allegations. Pelosi called for him to resign in December when the allegations first came to light.
However, during her weekly press briefing, Pelosi did not repeat her calls for him to resign.
"When he makes a decision, I'll give you a reaction to it," Pelosi said in response to questioning about Kihuen.
“Let's see what he decides to do," Pelosi added later when she was asked if she still thinks he should resign. "I don't mean to be rude in my response, but I don't want to speculate on something that may or may not happen."
Her past remarks struck a much stronger tone calling for his resignation. She wrote after Kihuen’s first accuser came forward that "the young woman's documented account is convincing, and I commend her for the courage it took to come forward. In light of these upsetting allegations, Congressman Kihuen should resign."
Kihuen faces allegations of sexual harassment from his campaign's former finance director and a lobbyist who both allege inappropriate touching and advances from Kihuen. The House Ethics Committee has launched an investigation into the allegations.
According to recent reports, Kihuen is still considering running for re-election despite previously announcing that he would be retiring.
In a December interview with ABC News, Kihuen claimed Pelosi and Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, knew about the allegations and still aided his campaign.
"They looked into them. They didn't find anything, and they continued investing millions of dollars in my campaign," said Kihuen. "They went out there and campaigned for me."
Pelosi and Lujan denied Kihuen's claims in statements to ABC News.
