Megyn Kelly Criticizes Samantha Bee for Comments On Ivanka

On May 31st, NBC Host Megyn Kelly criticized comedian Samantha Bee for her comments directed towards Ivanka Trump. On Wednesday Bee responded to the White House’s immigration policies in which she called Ivanka Trump a “feckless c*nt.”

This comment was buried in statement directed at Ivanka, that was at best, highly disrespectful.  “Do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c–t,” Bee said. “He listens to you! Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f—ing stop it!”  said Bee.

Kelly addressed the issue on her NBC show Megyn Kelly Today on Thursday morning, along with her colleagues Craig Melvin and Jacob Soboroff.

"It was so jarring. To me, hate is hate, and I think she should be condemned for it, too. It's not to word police. It's just hate is hate is hate," said Kelly.

Along with her colleagues Melvin and Soboroff, Kelly discussed the possibility that there would be similar backlash as Roseanne Barr experienced following her racist comment about Valerie Jarrett.

Soboroff described Barr's comment as different from Bee’s because Bee’s was part of a comedy routine, while Barr’s was not. However, Kelly said he was splitting hairs.

“They're both wrong, period,” said Kelly. She went on to say that Bee undermined her own position on the current immigration policy from the White House, by her choice of language.

Kelly later went on to describe her feelings on the comments with a tweet.

“This is disgusting. How is this acceptable? And how are we expected to take any of these publications seriously if they gleefully repost something like this at the same time they (rightfully) condemn @therealroseanne? You know the saying Love is Love? Well Hate is Hate.”

"I think that's fair," Soboroff said. "It was a horrible word, and when you call somebody it, I don't know if you need to face the consequence of getting your show fired, but you should hear the backlash from Megyn Kelly."
