Why Isn't The Media Demanding Democrats Publicly Condemn Antifa?

Editor's note: A portion of this post has been crossed out and tweets from an account claiming to be Antifa Boston but instead is a parody account, have been deleted. I regret the error.

In the aftermath of Charlottesville, the media has been focused on President Trump saying there were "many sides" to violence that left one woman dead. They've also honed in on his failure to specifically and solely condemn white supremacists in his initial statement about the incident. The fact that he has repeatedly condemned the likes of KKK member David Duke through the years has gone unmentioned and Democrats are using the opportunity to smear all Republicans as complicate or somehow supporters of racism.

To be clear, the alt-right, white supremacy and neo-Nazism has nothing to do with Republicans or conservatives on the "right" side of the political spectrum. Leaders of today's white supremacists groups reject the values in the U.S. Constitution and support an overbearing government favoring a white class. This of course is completely opposite of the small government, individual liberty values held by Republicans and conservatives across the country. Regardless, President Trump, Republicans and conservatives have been bombarded with questions and demands to condemn these groups as if they are somehow related to their politics. They aren't. Some have argued President Trump needed to step up with additional condemnation of white supremacists in Charlottesville because the groups believe they have support from the President. They don't.

But given the standard of necessary response that's been set by the media and the left, why is it that reporters aren't demanding Democrats condemn and disavow the far-left group Antifa? After all that group, responsible for torching American flags and throwing urine at Boston police officers over the weekend, believe they have the support of Hillary Clinton and other high profile liberals. A number of people in media equated Antifa to World War II veterans last week because they claim to take on Nazism. DNC Deputy Chairman Keith Ellison classified Antifa as protestors who show the values President Trump does not.

The double standard couldn't be more clear.
