Gallup: Government is America's Most Important Problem

According to a new Gallup Poll, Americans believe government is the biggest problem facing the United States, beating out the economy as a top issue for voters.

Americans continue to name the government (18%) as the most important U.S. problem, a distinction it has had for the past four months. Americans' mentions of the economy as the top problem (11%) dropped this month, leaving it tied with jobs (10%) for second place.

As a follow up, I'd be interested in exactly why Americans believe government is the country's biggest problem. Is it because of over regulation? Government scandals? Lack of accountability for government officials? Are a majority of Americans finally making the connection between overbearing government and a lack of economic growth?

In terms of politics, these are questions that can be answered by looking at the types of candidates voters are interested in. In 2014, it was small government proponents. If this trend continues, 2016 will be the same.
