#SoSad: Jorge Ramos Admits the ‘Trump Effect’ Is Working

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos reluctantly accepted some hard truths on Thursday, admitting that President Donald Trump's policies on immigration have drastically decreased illegal border crossings from Mexico.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the number of people illegally crossing the U.S. southern border has dropped 40 percent in President Trump’s first month in office, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said Wednesday.

“The drop in apprehensions shows a marked change in trends,” Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said. “Since the administration’s implementation of executive orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years.”

Anderson Cooper of CNN questioned Ramos on the statistics during an interview Thursday night.

“Jorge, the massive drop in border apprehensions last month, the customs border protections says 40 percent, it’s down 40 percent, people trying to cross illegally. What do you make of that?” Cooper asked. “Is it possible that the tough talk on illegal immigration by Trump is working, that he deserves credit for that drop?”

"These people calling their relatives and their friends, saying, “don’t come here, this is not the right moment.” So I think it is possible. Really no one wants illegal immigration, not even undocumented immigrants. It is very risky for them. It is better to do it in a legal way," Ramos responded in a shocking change of perspective.

Ramos gained much attention during the 2015 presidential primaries when he refused to allow other reporters to ask questions during one of President Trump's campaign press conferences and was physically forced to leave.
