New York Judge Sworn in on Quran

“All is praise (sic) is indeed due to the Most High!” said newly elected Judge Carolyn Walker-Diallo of New York's 7th Municipal District.

Walker-Diallo, wearing her hijab, was proudly sworn into office with her hand placed on the Holy Quran last week.

During the ceremony, Islamic music and dancing was seen and heard throughout the New York courtroom.

Sadyia Khalique, director of operations for the New York chapter of the Council on American–Islamic Relations said that some of the backlash on social media against Walker-Diallo was horrific and that "this is a proud moment for her, and to have this much criticism is just really sad... in our society, there is so much hate."
