Manchin Wouldn't Appear With Obama in Election Season

Although he may not be up for re-election in 2014, Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va) has a few ideas for what he’d be doing this election season if he wanted the votes. This morning Manchin appeared on “Morning Joe,” and he was asked about what he would be doing this election season if he was facing re-election.

When asked if he would appear with the president at campaign rallies in his home state, if he was in a race this year, Manchin replied with a “no.”

The senator was on the morning show due to a new AP report about the possibility of him leaving the senate to run for governor. But once the hosts began asking questions about this election season, things got interesting. Manchin cut off one of the hosts to interject the “no” answer before the question could even be finished. The hosts laughed following the knee-jerk response.

The problem is, Manchin messed up when he said that he would campaign on support of Obamacare. This is something that seems to directly contradict the fact that he wouldn’t go on the road with the president. The Affordable Care Act is the cornerstone of Obama’s presidency, so one without the other doesn’t make sense.

At least Manchin is well aware of the fact that Obama would be bad for his campaign for re-election.
