Former Redskins Player to Run for Congress in Washington State

Former Washington Redskins player, Clint Didier, is making another run at a federal level elected position. Didier has entered the race for the open House seat that will be vacated by Doc Hastings. The Tea Party has backed Didier in his run for the seat.

Didier ran for Senate against incumbent Patty Murray in 2010, but lost that race. He also lost a race for state land commissioner in 2012. In a statement at his press conference, Didier said, “You have seen my Senate run, you have seen my lands commissioner run and my message has not changed. It’s the same. We have to get government under control.”

The former tight end for the Redskins played football into the late 80s for the Green Bay Packers as well.

Didier is most well-known for some of his more controversial stances including skepticism over climate change and accusing some of President Obama’s appointees of having communist ties.

There are a few other potential candidates that Didier will have to watch out for. Rep. Hastings announced just last week that he planned to retire, so there is still plenty of time for more candidates to enter the race.
