Third Primary Challenger Enters Race Against Lindsey Graham

A third candidate stepped into the ring for the Republican nomination for Senate in South Carolina today. South Carolina State Senator Lee Bright joins two other Republicans in challenging incumbent Senator Lindsey Graham.

Mr. Bright launched is campaign website today in anticipation of a formal announcement soon. He is a libertarian-leaning Republican and believes he has the experience to win this seat.

"As a South Carolina state senator, Lee Bright has earned the reputation for being the most conservative leader in the legislature," the website says. "His impeccable voting record reveals a strong belief in Second Amendment freedoms, pro-life values, the advancement of civil liberties and fiscal responsibility. It's time to take this proven track record to the U.S. Senate so South Carolina can lead the charge against the Washington establishment."

Graham has upset several different groups for many of his recent opinions. He has upset many Tea Partiers over his stance on several fiscal issues. He has upset a core group of immigration voters based on his attempts to reach across the aisle on immigration reform. And finally, he has also upset many libertarian minded voters based on his more hawkish stances on foreign policy issues.

Lee Bright joins Nancy Mace and Richard Cash as challengers in this race. It seems most likely that this race will come down to how the candidates reach out to the varying groups that are represented in the state of South Carolina.
