I hereby renew my call for the Republican Party to devise an arrangement under which Hillary Clinton remains in the national spotlight, speaking her mind on a daily basis, for years to come. As she continues her "What Happened" tour, the twice-failed presidential candidate is grasping for new hyperbolic methods of explaining just how terribly wronged she was by various dark forces that conspired to deny her what she's always seemed to perceive as her birthright: The US presidency. In banging on Russia's interference for the umpteenth time (and I write this as someone who is openly disgusted by the Kremlin's meddling, and who supports the Russia probe), Mrs. Clinton uncorked this comparison:
Hillary Clinton on Sunday referred to Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election as a "cyber 9/11." “I think there a lot more connections that have yet to come to light,” Clinton said Sunday evening in London, according to BuzzFeed News. The former Democratic nominee said if she had been elected president, she would have called for an independent commission to "get to the bottom of it." “We had really well-respected security, intelligence veterans saying this was a cyber 9/11, in the sense it was a direct attack on our institutions,” she said.
Tom Nichols, a Naval War College professor and vocal Trump critic, let her have it:
No, it wasn't, and shame on you for using that comparison. https://t.co/sncbuAFF3S— Tom Nichols (@RadioFreeTom) October 16, 2017
By the way, remember those much-discussed Facebook ads purchased by Russian-linked outfits to spread fake news? More than half of them were viewed by Americans after the election. And since she's decided to again raise the specter of Moscow's malign influence, how's this development to a story we covered last year?
Well then. I'll leave you with her carping about getting 'shivved' by former FBI Director James Comey:
