New Poll: Obama Underwater on Job Approval, Nearly Every Issue

The last few weeks haven't been kind to the Obama administration, as compounding scandals continue to batter the president's brand.  Public disapproval now

outpaces approval on his job performance and his handling of almost every issue.  I'll let the numbers speak for themselves:

Obama job approval: 43 percent approve, 51 percent disapprove.

Obama job approval (independents): 31 percent approve, 61 percent disapprove.

Obama personal favorability: 47 percent favorable, 51 percent unfavorable.

Obama approval on various issues:

Economy: 38 percent approve, 58 percent disapprove (-20).
Immigration: 39 percent approve, 53 percent disapprove (-14).
Gun control: 38 percent approve, 57 percent disapprove (-19).
Deficits: 32 percent approve, 63 percent disapprove (-31).
Healthcare: 41 percent approve, 55 percent disapprove (-14)
Foreign policy: 41 percent approve, 50 percent disapprove (-9)

The president has done quite a lot of talking about guns and healthcare this year.  Those PR pushes don't appear to be paying dividends.  The immigration number is interesting, too. The only topic on which the president earns net positive marks is terrorism (+11).  On scandal-related topics, the news doesn't get much better for Obama:

(10) Do you approve or disapprove of how Barack Obama is handling the government’s classified surveillance program that collects the phone and Internet records of U.S.citizens?
Approve 32% Disapprove 61%

(11) Do you approve or disapprove of how Barack Obama is handling the situation surrounding the IRS targeting of conservative groups?

Finally, respondents were asked whether Congress should continue investigating the following stories:

IRS targeting of conservatives: 73 percent yes,  24 percent no.
DOJ spying on journalists: 70 percent yes, 26 percent no.
The Benghazi terrorist attacks: 71 percent yes, 27 percent no.

Also on Benghazi, fully 69 percent of Americans believe President Obama should have ordered a military rescue mission during the attack.  I wonder what percentage of the public realizes that the administration knows the identities and locations of several Benghazi perpetrators, but won't detain them due to a political obsession with trying terrorists in civilian courts.

UPDATE
- The latest Quinnipiac survey shows Obama's overall approval deeeep underwater at 40/57 (-17), his lowest marks ever in the Buckeye State.  A few months ago, Ohioans narrowly voted to re-elect him.  As Rick Wilson notes, the Q-poll was taken before Obama announced his latest salvo in the war on coal, which is all about combating climate change.  Has anyone at the White House seen this?
