Lindsey Graham Says Media Aren't 'Enemies of the People,' But...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) may stop short of calling the media the enemy of the people as the president is wont to do, but he does have another unflattering description for them. Following the tense, downright nasty debate over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Graham is now convinced that outlets like NBC and MSNBC are "allies of the Democratic Party." The fiery senator said as much in a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt Monday.

"Well, one of the things we’ll learn from Kavanaugh is how in the tank the media really is for the other side," Graham said. "I don’t think they’re the enemy of the people. They’re just allies of the Democratic Party. If a Republican had done to a Democratic nominee what they did to Kavanaugh, it would be front page news everywhere. If Barack Obama’s jobs numbers were anywhere close to what we’re talking about, they would stop the Earth from rotating to make sure everybody heard about it."

"So the bottom line is it doesn’t work anymore," Graham added. "MSNBC and NBC have become one when it comes to the news cycle. Saturday Night Live is making fun of a guy who lost his eye in Afghanistan. There is a backlash growing in this country from the over the top effort by the left to portray everything conservative as bad and mean and un-American. And we’re going to show up at the polls in record numbers, and we’re going to kick their butt in the Senate, and I think the House is going to surprise people."

The discussion got a bit awkward only because Hewitt is an MSNBC contributor. Graham acknowledged the fact and commended Hewitt for being one of the few actual conservatives voices on the network.

LG: Well, number one, if you’re on MSNBC as a Republican, you’ve lost your way.

HH: Well, I’m there.

LG: Most of these people…yeah, but you’re actually being a Republican on MSNBC.

HH: That’s true.

"And you’re trying to tell our side of the story, and I appreciate MSNBC having your voice," Graham added.

Conservatives who once balked at the sight of Sen. Graham are loving Lindsey Graham 2.0. Once a fierce critic of President Trump, he is now one of his biggest defenders. His most recent fiery speech came last week when he told the "radical left" they could "kiss his a**."
