Dershowitz Tells Maxine Waters Not to Call Him a Racist

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz probably did not ever expect to be called a "racist" during his career. Yet, that's just how Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) apparently perceives him in this unusual political cycle we're in that never seems to end.

Dershowitz, who is liberal in ideology, recently shared his rather innocuous assessment that special counsel Robert Mueller chose to impanel a grand jury for the Russia probe in the nation's capital because its "ethnic and racial composition" were unfavorable toward the president.

To make such a suggestion, Waters argued, was "racist."

Dershowitz fumed in response, noting that he has an impressive civil rights record.

"She tosses around that term so promiscuously that it dilutes the term. She hurts her own cause because she’s crying wolf," the prominent attorney and constitutional law scholar told Laura Ingraham, who was filling in for Tucker Carlson on Fox News. "If everybody’s a racist, then no one is a racist. If I am a racist, then what is she going to call real, real racism?

"I marched in the South, I was involved in the civil rights movement all of my life," he continued. "Being black does not give you a license to call someone a racist just like being Jewish doesn’t give you a license to call people anti-Semites unless they actually are racists or anti-Semites."

First of all, everything Rep. Waters says should be taken with a grain of salt after her countless calls to impeach President Trump. She has been obsessed with it - even bringing her far fetched campaign to the BET stage.

Second, it's no surprise Dershowitz's fellow liberals are lashing out at him. As of late, he has been defending Donald Trump, Jr. and penning pro-Trump op-eds that were too controversial for the pages of The New York Times.

For what it's worth, not all liberals think Dershowitz is a racist.
