NYC Police Possibly Preparing to Arrest Harvey Weinstein for Rape

About a month after the New York Times published a story detailing decades of sexual abuse and harassment by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, NYC police say they have a "credible rape allegation" against him and are possibly going to arrest the media mogul. The story broke shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday.

Weinstein spent one week in rehab for sexual addiction before he was released. He has been accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of actresses. Weinstein's reprehensible conduct was an open secret in Hollywood, with actresses speaking out for years (either publicly or via sly jokes on television shows like 30 Rock) that he was a pervert that should be avoided. He has since been banned for life from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Since the Times piece about Weinstein, there's been an absolute deluge of people coming forward to share their stories of sexual assault and sexual harassment both in the entertainment industry and elsewhere. While nobody has been arrested, scores of people have lost jobs and/or been dropped by their agencies in the wake of the allegations. Kevin Spacey's show "House of Cards" had its production suspended entirely after an actor claimed that Spacey made a pass at him when he was just 14, and eight additional "House of Cards" crew members said that Spacey behaved inappropriately.

Weinstein has been in legal trouble before, and was accused of molesting an Italian model in 2015.
