A report in the Hill states that House Republicans are seeking to block any spending resolution that would include funding for the implementation of ObamaCare.
As anyone who remembers the shut-down from the Clinton years knows, government shut-downs can be risky for Republicans, especially given the media's penchant for slanting its news coverage against them.
But it's worth noting that, according to Scott Clement of the Washington Post, support for ObamaCare is falling even among moderate Democrats. Among the public at large, only 42% support the law -- but what's astonishing is that among conservative and moderate Democrats (and 57% of Dems polled classified themselves that way), support has likewise dropped dramatically . . . from 74% when the law was passed to a measly 46% right now.
Only liberal Democrats still enthusiastically support the law; unaccountably, their support for it has climbed 4% over the last three years (from 74% yo 78%), even as its destructive effects on patient choice and the medical system generally have become clearer. Make of that what you will.

So the question becomes: Is the public's fear and dislike of ObamaCare (and its attendant unprecedented intrusion into Americans' privacy) enough to swing public opinion behind the GOP if they were to shut down the government in order to prevent its implementation? Is there any media outlet out there (besides Fox) willing to admit that Obama's will to impose this unpopular legislation would be the only reason the government remains closed?
