Nigel Farage Praises Trump, Urges People to Fight the Establishment

Former UK Independence Party Leader Nigel Farage praised President Trump during his address Friday afternoon at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), saying that his decision to back Trump in 2016 “was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.”

He further stated that Trump “exceeded all expectations” and that the US leader is “on the way to being a truly great president of this country.”

Having spoken with Trump earlier in the day, Farage said that he found Trump “at ease with himself,” “in good humor,” and “at the very top of his game.”

“The establishment are still not reconciled with those shock results, as they saw them, back in 2016,” Farage said. “The establishment in some ways are fighting harder to damage the reputation of the president” and are opposing Brexit he said. Blasting American media, he stated, “the mainstream media have actually become the opposition.”

He also said that “center-left broadsheet newspapers” in the US and UK contain “conspiracy theories” about him which he called “fake news” along with the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Denying that he has connections to Russia, he said, “I’ve never been to Russia. I’ve never been to Moscow. I’ve never met a Russian operative or agent. I’ve never done business in Russia. I’ve never taken money from Russia. I may be guilty of drinking the odd Russian Vodka.”

After having spoken about George Soros, he said that “people like Soros don’t believe in the existence of the nation state” and he also said “they don’t believe in national identity. They want us to live in a world with open borders.”

Farage noted that he felt optimism among the CPAC attendees and that Donald Trump “has made America optimistic once again.” He warned that “the biggest single danger to the huge victories that were achieved back in 2016 is complacency,” and he urged people to work to win America’s 2018 elections, saying, “please, please go and help your president move on to even greater things.”

Farage said in his country “There is an attempt by that unholy trinity of big banks, big business and big politics to stop Brexit from happening.” But if there is another Brexit vote, he declared, “I will be straight back in the front line of that campaign.”

He said “that democracy, liberty and freedom don’t come for nothing” and “unless you’re prepared to fight and battle for those things constantly,” he said, “as soon as you stop peddling, the other side, the establishment will hit back and try to take those things away.”

He asserted that, “we have managed to change the course of history” but he called for people to “keep fighting and keep working to make sure that our victory is permanent.”
