A suburban Illinois mother has been charged with murder after she allegedly hanged her 2-year-old son before attempting to harm herself in an apparent copycat killing.

Authorities say that a neighbor discovered Corie Walsh of Frankfort, Illinois in a bathtub following a suicide attempt. Police arrived on scene to find a neighbor performing CPR on Walsh’s 2-year-old son Barrett, who the neighbor had found hanging in Walsh’s basement.
Prosecutors say that the neighbor had taken Barrett down and attempted to perform life-saving care while calling 911, but discovered that the child was cold and had no pulse. Barrett was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Prosecutors further claim that Walsh had “recently become very invested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial,” and had been actively discussing the trial in a group chat just 3 and a half hours before she and her son were discovered.
She reportedly told authorities that she committed the crime because she was “the Devil” and the “anti-Christ.”
The 40-year-old Walsh was charged with three counts of first-degree murder on Friday.
