Why the SAVE Act Terrifies Democrats

Congress returns to work this week following the August recess. Most observers predict it’ll be a sprint to pass legislation on key issues before the November elections…with the highest priority for the GOP being the SAVE Act.

Simply put, this critically needed law—technically known as the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act—requires potential voters to provide documented proof of American citizenship at the time they register to vote. Seems obvious, simple, and wise. And unlike weasel-worded legislation crafted by Democrats, the SAVE Act (introduced by conservative GOP Congressman Chip Roy of Texas) is designed to actually do what its name implies: confirm and safeguard the eligibility of every voter before he or she can cast a ballot in any federal election.

This is in stark contrast to such D.C. prevarications asthe Democrats’ highly touted “Inflation Reduction Act” (you know, the one for which their unelected, appointed nominee Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote? That “Inflation Reduction Act.”)  On August 10th, President Joe Biden said he “regretted” the name of his signature legislative achievement “because it has less to do with reducing inflation than providing alternatives where we can generate economic growth.” (CODE: funneling grants and contracts for make-work leaf raking jobs and other Green New featherbedding for the Harris/Biden Administration’s cronies in labor unions.)

Another classic Democrat 3-Card Monte word game—trotted out by rote again this week in the aftermath of the deadly school shootings at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia—is “Common Sense Gun Laws.” The bodies of two students and two teachers killed in those horrific shootings had not yet been identified before “career prosecutor” Kamala Harris was racing to the TV cameras without any facts or solid information, like a mynah bird screeching “Common Sense Gun Laws. Common Sense Gun Laws.”

(One doesn’t need to be Wayne LaPierre to know that when Democrats cry “Common Sense Gun Laws” they really mean gun confiscation via another of the entries in their partisan thesaurus: “Firearm buybacks.”)

The Democrats are so steeped in lies (like the reduction act they now admit doesn’t actually lower inflation and gun laws which are the farthest things from common sense) that when confronted by something like the SAVE Act—which says what it means and means what it says—they recoil like garden variety vampires when confronted with a crucifix.

The SAVE Act passed the Republican-controlled House in July, but has stalled in the Democrat-controlled Senate, which attacked it as “unnecessary” since there are already laws preventing illegals from voting in federal elections. Naturally—like the leaders of the dishonestly-designated sanctuary cities—Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his cohorts pretend the aliens his party has intentionally imported to America cannot drive through the electric car-sized loophole in those election laws.

Places like New York City and Washington, D.C. (three guesses which political party rules those municipalities) have eagerly passed local laws greenlighting (ahem) undocumented new residents registering to vote in “city” elections only. But riddle me this, Batman: once a Venezuelan or a Honduran bellies up to the voting booth this November to participate in “local” elections, how exactly would we stop those illegals from also casting ballots for Kamala Harris and her Minnesota State Fair sideshow Tim Walz?

On the latest installment of Salem Media Group news program THIS WEEK ON THE HILL with Tony Perkins, Congressman Keith Self (R-Texas) says House Speaker Mike Johnson and other GOP leaders plan to attach the SAVE Act to a Continuing Resolution which must pass before September 30th if a government shutdown is to be averted.

“I believe it is critical the SAVE Act passes,” Self says. “Now it has already passed the House but up to now has been blocked in the Senate. The legislation says unequivocally that if you are registering for a federalelection, you must show your proof of citizenship. I don’t understand why that is even an issue.

Nevertheless, Self flatly declares that the real reason is Democrats have been importing voters across America’s borders, “which is why I want the SAVE Act to pass.” He adds while he’d prefer it passes outright, he wants all Democrats in the Senate to go on record for or against the SAVE Act so that voters have a clear picture of which incumbents favor allowing illegal migrants to influence America’s election for President on November 5th.

Given the increase in brutal, sexual assaults on children by migrants—not to mention the literal takeover of apartment buildings by Venezuelan gang members brandishing automatic weapons in Colorado Springs, Chicago and elsewhere—my guess is that armed with Democrat voting records on the SAVE Act most intelligent voters won’t hesitate to kick any such incumbent lawmakers to the curb on Election Day.
