This week, the Democratic Party, which claims to pride itself on preserving norms and respecting "democracy," proved yet again that, in reality, it's comprised of destruction artists seemingly hell-bent on destroying the country.
On Tuesday, Donald J. Trump was arraigned in New York City after a number of bogus charges were filed against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. It's the first time in the history of the United States of America that a former president, and presidential candidate, has faced such charges.
In another desperate attempt to become the man who "got Trump," Bragg cooked up dozens of "felonies" and claimed Trump misled voters during the 2016 general election in order to win the White House. In other words, they still can't let go of the fact that Trump beat Hillary Clinton and became the duly elected 45th president.
Even Trump's harshest critics, including former National Security Advisor John Bolton and Senator Mitt Romney, know the case is garbage.
"I believe the New York prosecutor has stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda," Romney released in a statement. "No one is above the law, not even former presidents, but everyone is entitled to equal treatment under the law. The prosecutor's overreach sets a dangerous precedent for criminalizing political opponents and damages the public's faith in our justice system."

"I'm extraordinarily distressed by this document," Bolton said during reaction on CNN. "It's even weaker than I feared it would be, and I think it's easily subject to being dismissed or a quick acquittal for Trump."
Meanwhile, the White House, which has no problem repeatedly chiming in on cases the Department of Justice is still prosecuting, is attempting to remain quiet about the indictment of the opposition party's top leader and President Joe Biden's most likely opponent in the 2024 general election.
"It is an ongoing case, and I've been very clear about that. We've been prudent about that, not commenting on ongoing cases. And we're going to stick to that," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.
For his part, Biden is literally laughing about the matter and ignoring all concerns the precedent not only harms the office of the presidency but the future of the Republic and further erodes trust in American institutions.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, one of the most powerful Democrats in the history of the country, recently exposed the left's real thinking about the prosecution of political opponents.
"No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence," Pelosi tweeted after news of the indictment broke. "Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right."
Prove innocence? That's not the American standard of justice. Instead, that's the Stalin secret police standard of "show me the man, and I'll show you the crime."
But this is how the left thinks. Pelosi isn't alone in her statement and knows exactly what she's doing. Many people in our country think this is how the justice system should work. That political opponents, who they deem as enemies, are guilty of something and that government resources should be used to find out exactly what that something is. This approach of government weaponization is, of course, alarming, nation-destroying, third-world behavior that ultimately ends well for no one.
Democracies (and our Republic), which Democrats claim are sacrosanct, cannot survive when those in power weaponize the government against their political opponents. The breach of trust becomes irreparable, making e pluribus unum impossible. Given the left's behavior over the past six years, destruction of the country from the inside out seems to be a feature, not a bug – a goal rather than a consequence.
