Jon Ossoff Is Just Another Elitist Liberal

For the next 11 months, Jon Ossoff is going to spend hundreds of millions trying to convince working Georgians he’s one of us. He’s going to pose in dozens of ads, talk about working with Republicans, and claim he’s putting Georgians first.

Don’t fall for it. Jon Ossoff is just another elitist liberal running the usual Democrat playbook in a battleground state: Pretend to be moderate and hope no one does their homework.

Specifically, I want to talk about Ossoff on the border, immigration, and our military.

Having spent my career in law enforcement and the military, I know a thing or two about these issues.

In 2017, I deployed to the southern border under President Trump’s first administration. As chief of police in Doraville, one of Georgia’s most diverse communities, I dealt with immigration issues all the time, sometimes under tragic circumstances. I know what it takes to keep our border secure and streets safe.

Either Ossoff doesn’t know or doesn’t care.

When Biden took office in 2021, he made it very clear that he was going to undo every single one of President Trump’s immigration policies, no matter the cost.

The cartels got richer and more powerful. Our communities were flooded with drugs, violent criminals, and human trafficking. A recent study showed that Georgia now has the sixth-highest population of illegal immigrants in the entire country.

Among the folks Biden let roam our country freely were Jose Ibarra, the thug who murdered Laken Riley. Another was David Hector Rivas-Sagastume, who’s on trial for strangling a mother of five.

Jon Ossoff didn’t say a word while these criminals were being unleashed into our country. He didn’t just say nothing; he enabled it with his votes.

Ossoff voted against continuing Title 42, resuming construction of the wall, and keeping the Remain in Mexico policy in place. He supported Biden’s CBP One app, which made it easier for people crossing the border illegally.

Ossoff had a choice: Side with his party or the men and women of law enforcement and border patrol, as well as law-abiding Georgia families. He chose his party, and Georgia families paid the price.

Remember that when you see his ads next year.

Let’s also remember how Jon Ossoff has used Georgia veterans and military families as political pawns.

First and foremost, he voted to shut down the government and to keep it closed for more than a month. He denied our troops' pay because Chuck Schumer told him to. What’s even more insulting is that before he voted against the funding bill, he bragged about how he “secured” funding for military construction projects in Georgia.

Shows you how much he thinks of Georgia’s military families and voters. The same goes for Georgia’s veterans. A couple of months ago, Ossoff trotted out his Senate podium and held a press conference, taking all the credit for a bipartisan veterans bill that made it to President Trump’s desk.

But here’s the thing: Ossoff didn’t cosponsor the bill, shepherd it through the Senate, or even vote for it. It was passed and signed into law without him doing anything.

That’s who Jon Ossoff is: A privileged elitist who takes credit for others’ work and votes however his party tells him.

I know what secure borders mean for national security and what safe communities mean for Georgia families. Guaranteeing both takes leadership, and Jon Ossoff has been found lacking. He’s insulted our veterans and voted to make our state less safe.

Jon Ossoff can spend all of 2026 trying to reinvent himself. But he can’t run from his record, because Georgians sure won’t forget it.

John King is a retired two-star major general in the Army National Guard and a former police chief. He currently serves as Georgia’s Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner and is the first Hispanic elected statewide in Georgia.
