This Week Would Be Hilarious...Were It Not So Disgusting

Well, it would seem the jury in the Casey Anthony case thinks her baby committed suicide or something...I’m no expert (neither are the TV “experts,” it turns out), nor did I follow the case, and I’m not going to comment on it here...although I will say that there is no truth to the rumor I’m starting that the National Organization for Women (NOW) will be honoring Casey as the “Woman of the Year” for pioneering abortion in the 11th trimester.

Now on with the news...

We Don’t Have To Follow The Constitution, We’ve Got The Constitution On Our Side!

You just know every cable network already has their graphic for the debt ceiling “crisis” and are feverishly working on their theme music. That will come, probably in the next week or two, if no deal is struck. But while the media focus on the insignificance of aesthetics, liberals are actively espousing the prospect of a Presidential end-run around the Constitution....wait for it...by using the Constitution. They claim the 14th Amendment gives the President the authority to simply raise the debt ceiling with the snap of his fingers.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was the first to confirm this, but he was not the last. Even Republican Senator Chuck Grassley (Iowa) thinks the President might be able to do this, and refused to condemn the idea. Grassley, at least 439 years old and been in the Senate at least half as long, also thinks ethanol subsidies are a good thing, so that tells you all you need to know about his judgment.

But let’s look at what they’re espousing for a second.

They claim Section 4 of the 14th Amendment authorizes, no, REQUIRES the President to simply raise the debt ceiling to avoid government default. To understand this insanity you have to look at the relevant part of the Amendment they cite:

“The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.”

To liberals this means the President can, on his own, decide to borrow more money in order to help pay off some of the money we’ve already borrowed. To normal human beings this means the government cannot default, that no matter what. The government has to pay their debts first, then they can spend whatever is left over on other things.

The government takes in about $200 billion per month and spends about $300 billion per month. The payments on the debt is roughly 10% of what the government takes in per month, somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 billion. That means, if the government doesn’t raise the debt ceiling, which caps the amount of debt the government is allowed to have, that will leave the government with about $180 billion per month to spend. Sure, that’s about $100 billion less per month than they are used to spending, but it’s still an obscene amount. And it only means the government, for once, would have to prioritize where our money goes and not spend it where it is deemed “non-essential.”

This is what President Obama was talking about a few weeks ago when he accused Republicans of wanting to poison food, hurt children and kill the elderly. He was lying to the American people then, and he’s lying to them now. It’s exactly the same situation as when the government shutdown was looming a few months ago and Democrats accused Republicans of being willing to not pay our military in a time of war if it shutdown. The President has the authority to determine who is and is not essential personnel and to continue to pay those deemed essential, which means he, the President of the United States, and the Democrat leadership in Congress, decided the military was non-essential personnel back then, which is sick.

If the debt ceiling is not raised and our great grandchildren’s credit cards are taken away from us for a while (because that’s whose money we’re spending at this point), the President has to choose priorities, has to decide which programs and agencies continue to get funding and which do not. This prospect must scare the Hell out of a man who made his living voting present,. Hence, we get these scare tactics.

What the liberal geniuses who espouse the 14th Amendment nuclear option won’t tell you is what Section 5 says, “The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”

Note the word “Congress.” Even the most left-wing Supreme Court Justice couldn’t read that and think it means “The President.” Well, probably not.

Yes, liberals, who now call themselves “progressives” (same turd, different toilet), think that the 14th Amendment, which was passed to deal with issues related to reconstruction after the Civil War, someone trumps Section 8, Clause 2 which established the powers of the Congress and says they alone have the power “To borrow Money on the credit of the United States.”

They want you to believe what isn’t actually is. They want you to believe this nugget in the Constitution has gone unnoticed for over 100 years and Congress has been raising the debt ceiling in some sort of masturbatory exercise. Far be it from me to claim much of what the government does falls into that exact category, but is not one of those things.

If the President even tried to use this unconstitutional maneuver it would be an impeachable offense. But he really has nothing to worry about since the Senate, whose members all swore and oath to defend the constitution, would never convict a President of the majority party and the media is too dishonest and in the tank for him to bother reporting facts when they can simply regurgitate the opinions of a radical college professor or the thoughts of a bitter former Republican economist. In life one MUST have priorities.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) does a much better job of destroying this stupidity than I do, and he does it in 2 minutes in this video here.

What Did The President Not Know and When Did He Not Know It?

While there’s no old axiom saying the following, it holds true - Always be suspicious of anything named after a Vin Diesel movie. The “Fast & Furious” program, aka Operation Gunrunner, is growing bigger by the day. And it should. The government program that allowed Mexican drug cartels to buy weapons in the United States under the guise of “we’re going to track them” resulted in the death of US Border Agent Brian Terry. Someone made this call, and someone has to pay.

Congressman Darrel Issa is currently trying to get to the bottom of who did and knew what and when, having Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Ken Melson testify in secret on the 4th of July, but it has yet to interest most of the media thus far. But that’s changing.

ABC’s Jake Tapper seems to be flirting with the idea that this story is worth looking into, but it hasn’t yet reached the point it would if Obama had an (R) after his name.

Don’t expect NBC “News” to look into it, MSNBC would rather call Republicans terrorists than think the President could sink in a tub full of water, and CBS is, well, no one watches CBS. But ABC...maybe.

Tapper is one of the better reporters covering the White House, which is akin to being the tallest midget, but it’s something.

Before the White House gathers all the plausible scapegoats for a game of drawing straws to see who get the honor of throwing themselves on their sword to protect the President or Attorney General, there’s at least some evidence the President himself has at least some knowledge of the program.

Obama’s “stimulus” bill, the one he claims “saved or created” 3.6 million jobs (why not just claim it saved every job? Seriously, as long as you’re making up numbers, why aim low?), contained the following line item: “...of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.”

Considering the President himself promised to go through bills “line by line” looking to root out waste, it’s safe to assume he read this line and, therefore, knew of the program’s existence. Unless the man is a liar...

Anyway, that fact begs the question, what did Obama know and when did he know it? Sooner or later, perhaps in a break between sensationalized murder trials, royal visits to skid row or celebrity scandals, some industrious reporter, in a “flashback to credibility” moment, might ask. We can dream, can’t we?

Lining A Birdcage With Newsweek Is Cruelty To Animals. Calling Newsweek a rag is an insult to torn t-shirts and old socks everywhere, but scholars have yet to create a better word suitable for print on this website, so it will have to do. Toeing the “progressive” line, which is how you say lying in polite company, Newsweek published this hit piece on our Founding Fathers from a history professor at Columbia. Read it for yourself, but have a bag handy. Why publish an attack on the Founding Fathers? It’s right out of the Saul Alinsky/left-wing fascist pay book - take down your enemies. The Founding Fathers are rightfully held in high regard for their accomplishments by everyone who reveres freedom and liberty, which we all know is not where “progressives” live. You’ll see a lot more of this in the future. By focusing on the flaws of men no one had delusions of perfection about, they hope people who don’t know the truth of the greatness of their accomplishments will discount everything about them. That’s why you get angry liberal teachers saying things like they were “a bunch of slave owning white men who didn’t want to pay their taxes.” If you can make a caricature out of someone’s heroes, you stand a chance of turning people against those to whom they are heroes. Then people might not listen to those people when they, say, point out that the President is considering acting in a dictatorial manner on government spending or a political party seeks to control/indoctrinate a nation’s people and strip them of rights and liberties “for their own good.”  Fortunately most people are too smart to fall for this tactic, which is why they preach to the choir and go after children. Just remember to always spread the truth about history, that warts don’t diminish greatness, they’re just warts, and the motivation of the person who seeks to put their boot on your throat doesn’t matter in a free society. Fascism with a smile is still fascism.

How Much Stupid Can You Fit In 140 Characters? That’s not exactly a question that has plagued mankind for centuries but it is one we are inching ever closer to answering now that Vice President Joe Biden has signed up for the micro-blogging site. Using the twitter name @VP, (Why not his name? Looking to dump him?) the White House has unchained Biden from the radiator in the basement and set him loose on the world. Well, sort of. While the tweets from that account will originate from the Office of the Vice President, Biden himself will not be tweeting, his staff will. For all the crazies on the Left and in this White House, no one is dumb enough to allow that bipedal gaffe machine to send out instant thoughts unfiltered. I’m not saying Joe Biden is stupid, I’m just saying he actually IS what the media portrayed Dan Quayle as. Grab a pencil and paper and draw your own conclusion from that.

And In The End...

How incompetent is the government? They’re the only entity that could lose money by printing it. Remember those gold presidential dollars? No? You’re not alone, and that’s the problem. No one wants them, but we’re still making them. And what are we doing with most of them? Shipping them to a warehouse in Baltimore to sit and collect dust. There are currently $1 billion worth of these glorified skipping stones, which cost $300 million to make, going uncirculated and unwanted, with more are being made every day. If you think this is incompetent, just wait till that same government is running our health care system.

Alright, this is too long, so that’s enough. Sorry this one isn’t that funny but the news this week did nothing but disgust me. I’ll mock liberals harder next week, I promise. Till then, go about your week.
