Voting Rights Scam Is Big Business And A Huge Distraction For Democrats

Stacey Abrams: a smut novelist, failed gubernatorial candidate, activist huckster and sometimes a smart politician who can at least read the electoral tea leaves when they’re glaringly transparent.

Abrams has made a career out of selling the non-issue that voters in Georgia and across America are being disenfranchised by voting laws that are racist and biased against Democratic voters. Despite her limited success in transforming any voting laws, she has shown  a remarkable ability to enrich her personal fortune by owning two homes worth $1.4 million. That’s not bad for someone who claims to represent the disenfranchised.

You can argue that Abrams is the equivalent of a functional alcoholic except her in her case she’s a functioning delusional. Despite not being elected as governor in 2018, Abrams has insisted ever since that she really experienced victory in her race with Brian Kempt because so many voters were unable to cast a ballot for her. While operating as de facto governor of Georgia she has devoted her considerable energy into voting law reform – and issue that has suddenly become President Joe Biden’s latest craze as he attempts to close the curtains of inflation, supply chain shortages, declining energy supplies and that disaster in Afghanistan that continues to spiral into a catastrophe in the region.

Biden was an early convert to Abrams’ notion that if people with no ID could not vote it constituted not just discrimination but racism. He outrageously called Georgia’s voting law “Jim Crow in the 21st Century” without any evidence or example but with much hypocrisy as Biden was close to segregationist senators during his early years in the Upper Chamber, opposed to school busing and proudly referred to his home state of Delaware as a “slave state” during an interview with Chris Wallace. He even referred to segregation as a “source of black pride”as a Senator.

Obviously, Biden is returning to the issue in January 2022 because he has little else to talk about that does not resonate with the coming apocalypse. It is anybody’s guess how much control Biden actually exercises over his own presidency and its agenda. But clearly, this is a desperate measure by a desperate president to again smear Republicans as good old boy southern racists who are attempting to reintroduce poll taxes to prevent blacks from voting. The irony of course is that it was successive Democratic governments that enforced Jim Crow in the south and Biden would have been quite comfortable with the reality were it politically palatable.

So, you would think this would be a moment of political ecstasy for Stacey Abrams. The president – her president – is coming to her state Tuesday to talk about voting rights – her issue! Yet the always insouciant and inert Abrams will not be part of the celebration. Instead she claims to have a scheduling conflict and will be unable to attend.

What is it? A hair appointment? When does a political activist who has just announced that she will again seek to be governor of Georgia (even though she claims she already is) snub the president of the United States when he is in town to speak about an issue that has kept her employed and in the public eye since going down to political defeat in 2018?

First, it speaks loudly of just how weak a president Joe Biden has become. Any other chief executive would insist that Abrams drag herself to the speech because her presence would enhance his efforts. There would be no arguments and no talk about scheduling conflicts unless she was scheduled for a life-saving operation or burial in the cemetery.

Second, it reveals that as crazy as Abrams may appear, she is also utterly shameless and does possess some degree of political smarts. She understands that Biden has slipped so far below the political horizon that it is almost political suicide for her and her cause to be seen with him. Voters are not that completely stuipid that they will be suddenly transfixed on the voter rights scam when they can see their country dissolving around them. Inflation is not some esoteric political principle that is isolated in the classroom; it has become a part of the electorate’s consciousness as it sees gas prices escalate and the price of meat double in some cases.

Voters are also tired of endless masking, vaxxing and shutdowns — all of which are strongly promoted by Democratic states and hypocritically ignored by Democratic governors.

What is most tactless of Abrams is thumbing her nose at Vice President Kamala Harris, who, like Abrams, is also a woman of color and the first one to occupy the second highest office in the land.

"We have been a role model saying, 'You can see this and aspire to this and reject autocracies and autocratic leadership,'" Harris told “Face the Nation.” "Right now, we're about to take ourselves off the map as a role model if we let people destroy one of the most important pillars of a democracy, which is free and fair elections."

If Harris has the stupidity or courage to publicly proclaim such an absurd claim, the least that Abrams can do is make an appearance for moral support.

Biden and Harris can blather on about how the voters in Georgia are being sawn in two by an authoritarian government. Biden won’t talk about voting laws in his own state that are

far more restrictive than those in Georgia. He won’t talk about electoral integrity or the commonsense proposal that if you need ID to drive a car you should possess the same to vote. He won’t explain why it is apparently so arduous for black people to obtain ID.

Atlanta lost the Major League Baseball All Star Game in 2021 over its voter integrity law. Not only did it face the wrath of the pusillanimous  sports eunuchs, but major corporations like Coca Cola chimed in to condemn a law they obviously never read or cared to comprehend.

It was a manifestation of poetic justice when the Atlanta Braves won the World Series in October and gave the talking point liberals a dose of reality.
