First, let us recall that for the past year, we have been told Donald Trump was going to deliver the end of our democracy. Keep that in mind as you read this entry.
In what is a little bit more than turning over the op-ed pages to a left-wing crank, on the paper’s “Interesting Times” podcast, host Ross Douthat welcomed Osita Nwanevu to discuss his new book, where he has a plan to fix our nation. Basically, we need to remove ALL of our standard institutions, such as the Senate and the Constitution, and write an entirely new Constitution.
This is done in the name of saving the democracy, you understand. You get a sense of his contempt for things as he describes “the basic antidemocratic deficits within the Constitution that have empowered Donald Trump and brought him to the White House.”
It is all summed up at the start, in the subheading for this episode: Why the left can’t win without a new Constitution.

Explain once again why you have him on panels???
In what has to be a degrading segment for Bakari Sellers, he was on with Kassie Hunt and Scott Jennings discussing Donald Trump’s accomplishments, or, as he wanted to insist, the lack thereof, and was flummoxed by some details. Jennings mentioned a clutch of global peace deals, and Sellers refuted this claim, all because Bakari was oblivious to the deals that had been made. As Jennings listed a few of the deals Trump had brokered, Sellers tried to dismiss them all because he was legitimately unaware that they had taken place.
And he is brought out as an expert opinion maker on a number of their shows.

In what has been one of the ridiculous side stories to Donald Trump sending troops into Washington, D.C., we had the episode of a man who threw a sub sandwich at law enforcement officers who had arrived. His arrest has sparked some outrage, but also a wave of support in the press. At the Washington Post, they have added to their “crime is low” narrative to now outwardly applauding someone breaking the law by assaulting law enforcement officers.

It seems the concern is that this will lead to the challenge of people receiving accurate information. “The truth is still alive on social media – but it’s not easy to find,” muses Ms. Yellin.
Yeah, sorry. I am in no position to accept a lecture on the truth from the outlet run by Jeffrey Goldberg, who delivered such monumental lies as “Trump called fallen soldiers ‘suckers and losers’”, and last October’s claim that he had turned vulgarly racist towards the family of a fallen soldier to whom he promised to cover funeral expenses.
