News Avoidance Syndrome – NBC NEWS

  • After sourcing Hamas all week, suddenly, their own words of a threat are not valid.

It was with concern that most people heard the words of a former Hamas leader who called for Friday to be a "Day of Jihad," with protests and quite possibly targeted violence involved. Most people, that is, except for those working at NBC News. At that outlet, they managed to see these warnings as little more than a crackpot theory sent out by conservative media.

Resorting to the long-expired "no evidence" deflection, the crack news team declared this to be little more than a fever dream cooked up by those zany kooks on the right. This meant, of course, they had to ignore that entreaty from Khaled Meshaal calling for jihad. They also had to ignore the police being called up for duty in cities in response to this non-existent threat.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – ASSOCIATED PRESS

The new NHL season opened this week, but for many in the press, there was bad news – the league officials have eliminated the chance for teams to celebrate Pride Nights. Last year, a handful of players opted out from participating in the pre-game events, and despite hundreds of players donning Pride jerseys and using rainbow tape on their sticks, the entire focus was on seven guys who decided to stay in the locker room and not make a stink about it. Instead of celebrating the massive support, the press turned these select instances into major controversies, so the league canceled all recognition.

At the AP, they reported on this decision and had the impressions of a former NHL official, Brian Burke (emphasis added):

Former league and team executive Brian Burke, a longtime advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, on Wednesday sharply criticized the decision that he says removes meaningful support to protect a select few who don’t want to answer questions about their choices.

That bold section is there because that was not anything found in Burke's lengthy statement on the matter but added in by writer Stephen Whyno. This is patently wrong because the players who sat out the proceedings last season were more than willing to explain their reasons, mostly on religious beliefs. It was entirely why the press lost their collective minds on the issue in the first place.

Glossary Over Things – BBC

  • Still no explanation why there is a need to avoid offending infant murderers.

We have noted the disturbing trend in the press to avoid using "terrorist" in describing the Hamas terrorists who murdered over 1,200 Jewish residents. The BBC is among the outlets cleaving to this neutered standard, and in response, one of their own has quit the network. Noah Abrahamson has walked away, citing the noodle-spined decision by the network to avoid sensitive labels:

“The BBC’s refusal to use the correct terminology is unjustified,” Abrahams said on Thursday night, adding: “Terminology, words, when neglected have the power to fuel hate, they have the power to put fuel on the fire.”

Blue-anon – WASHINGTON POST

It has been with alarming, disturbing regularity that we have seen colleges across the country with campuses – either individually or with student groups – turning out with loud support for the Palestinian murderers. After days of this taking place, a harsh reality has settled in on many of these once brave protestors: Prospective employers are not thrilled with supporting murderous terrorists and are rescinding prospective job offers to some grad students.

Demo-lition Project – FOX NEWS

The late-night talk shows have returned as the writer's strike has ended, and their particular brand of predictable and unfunny humor has been ramped back up. But, it turns out, there has not been a stampede of the audience returning to see the usual partisan fare. Kimmel, Fallon, Colbert, and others have all occupied their seats behind desks once again, but there is another constant – they all lag behind "Gutfeld!" in the ratings.

"Riffed from the Headlines" is Townhall's daily VIP feature with coverage on the deeply flawed aspects of journalism in the nation, where Brad Slager looks to bring accountability to the mishaps, malaprops, misdeeds, manipulations, malpractice, and manufactured narratives in mainstream media.
