Gilded Reframe – THE ATLANTIC
- Making a point by ignoring the illegal elements in the story.
Adding to the amusement that is the ever-ridiculous claim that David Frum is in any way a conservative, the derangement-afflicted columnist had words to say about the case of a woman who was arrested after she terminated her pregnancy. David brings in some kind of claim that this is a case of oppressive new abortion legislation leading to this woman's alleged plight.
They swore up and down they wouldn't send girls and women to prison for having abortions. They lied.
— David Frum (@davidfrum) July 21, 2023
He goes on to suggest that Republicans want to set up a "surveillance regime" regarding abortions.
What Dave needed to bypass with his lecture is that the woman in question ingested a fistful of first-trimester abortion pills in order to forcibly abort her child at the 30-week mark, when it would have been born in a viable condition. She then burned the body of her daughter and buried the remains to hide the act from authorities.

Prose & Contradiction – POLITIFACT
It is not too surprising that in a week when all the news outlets have to weigh in on the Jason Aldean video "Try That In A Small Town," the fact-checkers would jump on board. It is also not surprising that they would screw it up when they did join in.
At PolitiFact, Madison Czopek did a forensic analysis of Aldean's music video and came to the conclusion that many of the video clips of protests came from elsewhere. As if…this disproved something:
Aldean denied the lynching message and defended his video: “There isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage.” Clips of violent protest scenes, burning American flags and crime were interspersed throughout the performance. We found six of the clips in stock footage catalogs. The clips came from real events or news footage, but many did not take place in the U.S. They included scenes of protests in Ukraine, Spain, Germany and Canada, one as far back as 2010.
Okay. And…? Are we to assume then that they are not real? What exactly are we doing with this information?
One thing this does, however, is unravel some of the accusations from the press this week. We have been told this video was an attack on Black Lives Matter – except much of the footage shown was of other scenes of unrest. Czopek discovered one clip was of a woman spitting on police during a pro-Trump count-the-votes rally.
Looking forward to seeing how that will be spun as a racist dog whistle.
Country singer Jason Aldean said he used real news clips in the music video for his song “Try That in a Small Town.” PolitiFact analyzed the video used and found that many of the clips depicting crowd violence were from non-U.S. protests. https://t.co/YcPkVHEmYd

Low Octane Gas Lighting – PBS NEWS HOUR
- Don't read the document entered into evidence proving what transpired; just trust PBS to tell you what is not in it.
As the press is diligently ignoring the hearings on Capitol Hill this week damaging the credibility of President Biden, not all news outlets are avoiding the news. Some are avoiding the facts as they report on it.
At the "PBS News Hour," they followed the lead from the Associated Press in claiming that the hard copy evidence of the executives at Burisma declaring they paid off the Bidens and that Hunter was only hired at the company so that his father could use his political influence to clear away problems the company was experiencing has been debunked.
It is rather amazing that the outlets claim this matter has been "debunked" when the declassified letter supplied by Chuck Grassley came directly from the FBI.
Grassley released an unclassified document Thursday that Republicans claim is significant in their investigation of Hunter Biden as they delve into the financial affairs of the president and his son, and revive previously debunked claims of wrongdoing. https://t.co/HifeoZHz2E

Legalized Press-titution – CNN
- We still recall when this was considered colluding with the administration.
Following the end of Donald Trump's term, when his former Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany signed on with Fox News, the likes of Brian Stelter and others decried that this would only entrench the networks' dedication to how they cover Trump. Yet, while the implied collusion was brought up, it did concern an individual whose administration was no longer in power.
Kate Bedingfield is leaving her post as the spokesperson for the White House, and she is joining Jen Psaki and Symone Sanders as members of the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION signing on with a cable news network.

Race to the Bottom – Public Broadcasting Service
Now, to understand, you wanted to get rid of the police, and now the solution is also hatefully biased?
PBS delivers the latest piece of racial strife in this nation. After calling for fewer police to be used to monitor inner city areas, this also meant that traffic enforcement and speed checks would have to be done remotely. Well, now we learn this has led to a grievous social inequity: automated speed cameras are racist!
Nearly 200 communities have automated speed cameras in place. But critics say that in places like Chicago, the tickets and fines they generate fall disproportionately on Black and brown residents. https://t.co/wFTf7F22Id
