This week's Bible study is adapted from The Gospel Project curriculum.

Bible Passages: Mark 1:14-15; Luke 4:16-21, 8:4-8; Matthew 7:28-29

Discussion Question:

Have I repented from my personal agendas to trust Jesus as my King and represent Him faithfully in the world?

Food for Thought:

Starting with the Spring 2013 quarter, The Gospel Project begins a unit titled, "Jesus' Life and Incarnation," spanning from Jesus' incarnation to His resurrection and exaltation. In this session, we'll see how the teaching ministry of Jesus was focused on the kingdom of God -- the arrival of God's reign in fulfillment of His promises to His people. The kingdom displays the saving power of God as it is proclaimed to all kinds of people.

Perhaps you remember where you were when you heard Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Or maybe you remember seeing Ronald Reagan on television challenging the leader of the Soviet Union, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" Great speeches like these gave voice to a vision, and the fulfillment took place because of multiple factors. Not so with the advent of Christ and the kingdom of Heaven. There was no need for other people to ratify the vision in order to make it a reality. The kingdom came in one Man, Jesus, and He came with one message. His vision and His words were powerful because of who He is.

Some questions we'll explore in the March 10 lesson include:

-- What do you think of when you hear the phrase "the kingdom of God"?

-- In what ways should our lives demonstrate the saving power of God's kingdom?

-- What is the role of faith in our encounter with the Word?

The Gospel Project

The Gospel Project is a Christ-centered curriculum that examines the grand narrative of Scripture and how the Gospel transforms the lives of those it touches. In a three-year study plan, participants are immersed in the Gospel through stories, theological concepts and calls to missions from Genesis to Revelation. Separate study plans for kids and students/adults ensure proper focus and depth. The Gospel Project is designed to unify an entire church under a single Christ-centered curriculum. More information, free samples, and The Gospel Project blog can be found at gospelproject.com Other ongoing Bible study options for all ages offered by LifeWay can be found at lifeway.com/SundaySchool.

Ken Braddy, manager of LifeWay's adult ongoing curriculum, regularly blogs about Sunday School and small groups at http://sundayschoolguy.wordpress.com.
