What the Heck, Mr. Comer?

We had them. House Republicans had the opportunity to hold the FBI accountable to some degree but opted to cave and stop all contempt proceedings against its director, Christopher Wray.

It took prying, but the FBI finally admitted it possessed an incriminating document about an alleged bribery scheme involving Joe Biden. A foreign national, a Ukrainian from the old Burisma narrative, allegedly paid him $5 million. FBI Director Wray refused to turn over the document and only surrendered it when Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight Committee, threatened to hold him in contempt. It was released, and placed in the SCIF for members to read, which is another odd protocol since the details aren't classified. The FD-1023, the report filed when the FBI uses confidential human sources, is smoking gun evidence that the Biden family is compromised. Then the Trump indictment over the classified document probe dropped. The timing isn't lost on anyone.

Wray's contempt hearings were set for last Thursday, but Comer pulled the plug at the last minute, showing once again the lack of willpower among conservatives to follow through on their campaign trail rhetoric. The FBI tried to spin the narrative again, using its old media contacts to leak fake news about the informant's report. One was that then-Attorney General William Barr shut down the investigation. He didn't, instead referring the matter to the US attorney's office in Delaware. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) tried to chip away at the credibility of the whole case, saying these allegations stemmed from what Rudy Giuliani brought up. Again, another lie. And how does the GOP react to another attempted FBI cover-up? They reward them by not wanting to spit-roast the FBI director who should have been fired long ago (via Associated Press):

The Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee … called off a vote on a contempt of Congress charge against FBI Director Christopher Wray, accepting a last-minute offer by the bureau to allow the full committee access to a confidential document of an unverified tip about President Joe Biden.

Rep. James Comer said in a statement that the committee is removing a contempt resolution against Wray from Thursday’s schedule [June 8] after receiving an accommodation that would give the full committee access to the document.

“Allowing all Oversight Committee members to review this record is an important step toward conducting oversight of the FBI and holding it accountable to the American people,” the Kentucky Republican said.

The action that played out over the last month against Wray reflects a larger breakdown between Republicans and the FBI that has only intensified this year, with some conservatives talking openly about trying to defund the bureau.

And it should be defunded. The FBI is now the go-to political hit squad for the Democratic Party, covering up crimes by the Biden family. The history of agents running interference to shut down potential criminal probes into the Bidens, specifically Hunter, is well-documented. All they do is engage in operations that interfere in our elections or work with social media to help them create echo chambers and censor free speech. The latter is what they did with Twitter, which Matt Taibbi and others painstakingly documented in their Twitter Files series.

Until the Republican Party harnesses and uses institutional power like Democrats to crush their opponents, these Deep State goons will keep getting away with it. It's time to declare war on the bureau. It's long past due, but all the GOP does is talk. It's time to get dirty, very dirty, to defeat our enemies because they're going to obliterate us if we don't.
