Trump Will Make $1 Per Year As President

Donald Trump will be the third president in U.S. history to not accept a salary.

In an interview with “60 Minutes” on Sunday, the billionaire seemed to have no idea how much he would make as president, and when interviewer Lesley Stahl informed him it was $400,000, he said he’d pass.

“No, I'm not going to take the salary. I'm not taking it," he said. “I think I have to by law take $1, so I'll take $1 a year.”

John F. Kennedy gave his congressional and presidential salaries to charity, as did Herbert Hoover, who also gave some to augment the incomes of his members of staff.

Trump also pledged to pass on frequent vacations.

"There's just so much to be done," he said. "So I don't think we'll be very big on vacations, no."
