Trump Won't Rule Out Special ID For Muslims in US

Similar to his tough stance on immigration, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has taken a no-holds-barred approach to how he would combat radical Islamic terrorism in the U.S.

In an interview with Yahoo News, Trump explained there would need to be increased surveillance of the Muslim community and warned that “we’re going to have to do things we never did before.”

“[S]ome people are going to be upset about it, but I think that now everybody is feeling that security is going to rule,” Trump said. “And certain things will be done that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy. And so we’re going to have to do certain things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago.”

The real estate mogul would not rule out extreme measures such as registering Muslims in a database or a special ID card noting their religion.

“We’re going to have to — we’re going to have to look at a lot of things very closely,” Trump said when presented with the idea. “We’re going to have to look at the mosques. We’re going to have to look very, very carefully.”

Trump said he would consider someone like former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, author of the now abandoned mosque surveillance program, for a position in his administration, should he win.

“Security is going to rule” in America, he promised.
