It’s Official: The White House Has a New Senior Advisor

President Trump has hired former Fox News executive Bill Shine as a senior advisor. He will also serve on the communications team.

"President Donald J. Trump announced today that Bill Shine will join the White House staff. Mr. Shine will serve as Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders released on behalf of the President in a statement Thursday afternoon. "He brings over two decades of television programming, communications, and management experience to the role. Previously, Mr. Shine served as Co-President of Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network."

Shine was orginally thought to be a replacement for Communications Director Hope Hicks, who left the White House earlier this year. Her position remains unfilled.

Shine left Fox News in 2017 after two decades at the network.

After making the announcement, President Trump left the White House for Joint Base Andrews, where he boarded Air Force One for a trip to Montana for a campaign style rally.
