John Cornyn: End the Obamacare Navigator Program Immediately

Earlier this week Project Veritas, led by James O'Keefe, released an undercover video showing Obamacare navigators in Texas [who are paid through a taxpayer funded Urban League grant] encouraging people to defraud the government and lie about their income on application forms. One navigator even admitted in the video to lying on her own application. That navigator has since been fired and three others have been suspended.

The Urban League said in a statement on Tuesday it “does not condone, nor would we ever sanction, misleading the public or any individual who seeks our assistance about any issue, and particularly in this case, an issue as critical as health care.”

The Urban League said the person fired was a “part-time receptionist trainee” who was not authorized to speak on behalf of The Urban League or act as a Navigator and said it supports decertifying three “Navigators-in-training” in the video.

The Urban League also called for the unedited video of the incidents to be released.

Now, Texas Senator John Cornyn is calling for an end to the navigator program immediately.


Republicans and Democrats have been warning for months about the potential for Obamacare navigator fraud. Two weeks ago, Health and Human Services Secretary admitted under oath during congressional testimony that it is possible for convicted felons to become employed as Obamacare navigators handling sensitive health and personal information.
