Just a day after America's birthday next week, President Obama will take off on his first campaign bus tour of the year through swing states of Pennsylvania and Ohio.
When House lawmakers vote Thursday on GOP recommendations that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder be held in contempt of Congress for stonewalling an investigation into a bungled gun-running operation, Georgia Democratic Rep. John Barrow will break partisan rank to censure the president’s choice for the nation’s top law enforcement post.
An unnamed Congressional aide to Barrow confirmed the decision on Wednesday to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s one-man D.C. bureau Daniel Malloy.
As it stands now, Obama is leading Romney in Pennsylvania and Ohio by a good margin, but with new unemployment numbers coming next week, those numbers could quickly change.
Obama leads Romney by 9 percentage points in Ohio, 6 points in Pennsylvania and 4 points in Florida, according to the June 19-25 “swing-state” survey released today. Obama has gained ground in Ohio and Florida while his lead in Pennsylvania diminished slightly, compared with a comparable Quinnipiac poll released on May 3.
The unemployment rate in Pennsylvania and Ohio is 7.5 percent.
