RNC Hauls in Major Dollars in August

RNC Chairman Reince Priubus has proven himself to be an excellent choice to head the committee. He has set a new record in fundraising totals and the best part, it's an off-election year. The DNC, headed by Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, raised significantly less in August than the RNC.

The Republican National Committee raised $8.17 million last month, setting a committee record for fundraising during August of an off election year. Yet there is another significant fact about the RNC's haul; reports suggest the DNC raised about $2.5 million less during the same time period.

However, although this is great news the RNC still has a long way to go.

The RNC now has $9.3 million in cash on hand, but still has substantial debt of just under $16 million. The committee's total raised year to date is $52 million. RNC officials note that Chairman Reince Priebus started his term with only $350 thousand in cash on hand and the committee $24 million in debt.

Looking at the entirety of the year to date the DNC has outraised its counterpart, with $20 million in its coffers at the end of July, whereas the RNC had $9.3 million on August 31.
