Obama Campaign Still Defending Bin Laden Ad

Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs defended the Obama administration's decision in a recent ad to question whether Mitt Romney would have made the call on the raid to get Osama bin Laden. Says Fox News:

Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs, the former White House press secretary, said Sunday the ad was "fair game."

"I don't think it's clear that (Romney) would," Gibbs said, when asked whether Romney would have green-lighted the mission.

"Usama bin Laden no longer walks on this planet today because of that brave decision (by Obama) and the brave actions by the men and women in our military -- and quite frankly Mitt Romney said it was a foolish thing to do a few years ago," Gibbs said, in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."

One  thing that's important to keep in mind through this Osama bin Laden debate: Obama was also benefitting from an intelligence structure put in place under his predecessor and intelligence information gathered before he became president.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton told Townhall earlier this month, "[T]he way I would look at it is this: Osama bin Laden was killed while Obama was president--he wasn't killed because Obama was president."
