10 Years Later: The Journey From 9-11

Ten years ago, an old threat--Islamic jihad--re-emerged and tried to bury a freedom-loving nation in the rubble of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. This is the story of how the greatest nation on earth coped, adapted and continues to rebuild in the wake of one of the most devastating attacks in U.S. history.

From "10 Years Later -- The Journey From 9-11" in the September issue of Townhall Magazine:

"On a beautiful blue-sky morning of Sept. 11, 2011, Dan Potter, then a New York City firefighter, made his wife Jean an asparagus omelet before she headed out to her job for Bank of America on the 81st floor in the North Tower of the World Trade Center. After dropping his wife off at work, Dan headed to Staten Island to take a prep course for the lieutenant exam.

"While Dan sat in a quiet classroom with 50 other students, two planes flew into the World Trade Center. Dan immediately picked up the phone to call his wife--there was no answer. He jumped into his pickup truck and raced back into the city, watching the smoking towers, trying to calculate which floors the plane had flown into. Dan thought the plane hit below Jean's office and assumed she would be climbing to the roof for evacuation.

"He parked and ran into the firehouse where he was stationed at the time near the Trade Center and put his fire gear on. When he went running out, he watched the South Tower collapse. ... "
