House Intel Dem: Giuliani's Hannity Interview Seriously Hurt Trump

Rudy Giuliani is doing more harm than good since he joined President Trump's legal team, according to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee. Take his interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, for example. During the lengthy conversation, the former New York City mayor gave Hannity his unfiltered opinion of former FBI Director James Comey. Comey is a "disgraceful liar" who has lied about his conversations with Trump, Giuliani said.

He also told Hannity that Trump fired his former FBI director because would not tell him he wasn’t a target of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.

"All of these things are deeply hurtful to the president’s case and notwithstanding the efforts of damage control, I think this is a very unpromising strategy,” Schiff said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

That's not all. Giuliani also made some statements about the Stormy Daniels case that seemed to contradict the president. Trump has told the press who knew nothing about his lawyer Michael Cohen's $130,000 payment to the porn star. Yet, Giuliani noted that Trump reimbursed Cohen for the payout.

So, Schiff summarized, Giuliani is telling us to "discount" the president's words and we should just trust him that this wasn’t a violation of campaign laws.

"His legal defense for the president seems to be a bit orthodox," Schiff said.

Giuliani's Sunday interview with ABC's George Stephanopolous was also a "fiasco," according to The Washington Post. Giuliani was unable to answer whether Trump had met Daniels, stating, "You know, I’m not really involved in the — in the Daniels thing. So I don’t — I don’t know.”

Trump is unlikely to take Schiff's advice about Giuliani, since the Democrat has suggested that Trump is guilty of collusion and has fallen for Russian pranks intended to try and embarrass the president.

Yet, the president didn't seem too thrilled with his new lawyer, saying on Friday that his longtime friend Giuliani will "get his facts straight."

"I say, You know what? Learn before you speak. It's a lot easier."
